Food & Drink

Enjoying good food is one of best parts of a memorable family holiday. Test out new flavours on the kids and try some fresh dishes yourself. The food and drink options across the Costa Blanca area are varied and we can give you advice whatever type of meal you’re looking for. If you’re looking for something local, you’re in luck as we have one of the best bodegas in the area right on our doorstep.

Bodega Cerda
Distance: 10m (Approx 20mins)

This is a beautiful fully restored and family run bodega on our doorstep. They run wine tasting sessions daily and you can sit in the beautiful courtyard to have lunch. Buy a couple of bottles of their own vino and browse in their lovely shop for some unusual souvenirs. Booking in advance is advisable for the tour and lunch.

El Mirador
Distance: 19m (Approx 30mins)

With stunning views over La Romana, El Mirador is one of our favourites. Their speciality is seafood so prepare to meet your lobster before you eat him. They have a wide selection of tapas and paella too. Well worth a visit.

Hermanos Belando Restaurante
Distance: Walking

Our nearest restaurant. In walking distance. Probably about 20minutes down the mountain then 30minutes back up. Famed for its rabbit and snail paella (they will do it without snails if you’d prefer), people travel all the way from Alicante for this speciality. Paella is the British equivalent to a Sunday Roast for the Spanish so its very difficult to get a table on a Sunday. Well worth a visit though

Victors
Distance: Walking

Found right next to the new square in La Romana, Victors is a very friendly café open early to late. There’s a great atmosphere in the summer with all the locals sitting outside eating late into the evening. Victor serves honest, simple, traditional Spanish food and is very popular with the locals. Point at and try the tapas. Take your fill, the prices are very cheap too.

Golf Courses

Golf in Spain is a gorgeous experience. We’re fortunate in our region to have some spectacular golf courses that our guests and friends enjoy in equal measure. Play around the undulations of a mountain to test your golfing skills or simply become too distracted by the beautiful scenery to putt a ball. As always, we can advise on the best golf courses around us and how to get there.

Font De Llop
Distance: 17m (Approx 34mins)

Font De Llop is a beautiful golf course just 30mins from Casas Almorós. You wouldn’t know this green oasis could be tucked away in the valley as you wind your way through the dry countryside on the main road. It is an 18 hole course which has been designed to incorporate the undulations of the mountains to create for a challenging round. There is a nice restaurant with a lovely terrace which has stunning views over the course.

Alenda Golf
Distance: 20m (Approx 35mins)

This is another great 18 hole golf course and driving range within short driving distance and plays host to the US Kids golf tour in February 2017. Green fees start at 30Euros for 9 holes but offers are available. There is a great clubhouse and restaurant to take advantage of too.

Picnics

What says family time better than a lovely picnic? The area around the Costa Blanca is full of spectacular locations to take a picnic to, and we can point out the best of them. We’re also happy to let you use our picnic equipment and baby carrier if you need it. We know that the memories made on a picnic can last a lifetime and we’ve certainly enjoyed our fair share of family picnics in our time

Picnic in the mountains
Distance: 0 miles

The mountains are on your doorstep and you really don’t have to walk far to find a beautiful picnic spot with views all the way to the sea. Picnic bags, blankets and even a baby carrier is available for your use.

Picnic/BBQ in Novelda Park
Distance: 12 miles (Approx. 20minutes)

Our kids love it here. It’s great for exploring, there’s play areas, loads of space to run around, there’s lots of shaded areas and best of all its free. The local town hall provide BBQs and picnic benches for you to take your own food and coals along and cook (BBQs are not permitted during the summer months due to the risk of fire). Again feel free to ask to borrow our picnic bags and blankets if you would like to go.

Shopping

Whatever type of shopping you’re looking for, our region has something to suit everyone. We’ve got an excellent shopping centre only 30 minutes away and a more outdoorsy shopping boulevard is only an hour away in the car. The boulevard is brilliant if you want a combination of big names and small, independent retailers. If you want to watch shoes being made, you should make sure to visit Salvador Artesano too

La Zenia Boulevard
Distance: 49m (Approx 60mins)

La Zenia Boulevard is a really lovely shopping centre and has a very “Florida Mall” feel with all the shops being outside. Water is sprayed out in a fine mist to cool down shoppers in the heat of the sun. All the big names are there again including Superdry, Bershka and Benetton as well as a small selection of more independent retailers.

There is a lovely selection of bars and restaurants many with outside terrace areas to soak up the rays, they have even provided sun beds if you want to put your feet up in between shops. It’s a great place for kids too. Take swimmers for the kids in the summer as they have water jets bursting from the ground to play in. In the peak season they have a little train offering rides around the complex and there are ride on animals available to rent for kids.

They also have a kids play park and bowling alley so you can really mix up time for the kids with time for retail therapy. If you stay into the evening they have entertainment on every night. From flamenco dancing, to children’s entertainment to singers or magic acts there’s something for everyone and it’s all free.

Salvador Artesano
Distance: 19m (Approx 30mins)

This region of Spain is renowned for its shoe making. Indeed, in La Romana, many of the women make their income from hand making shoe parts that then go on to be assembled into the finished product. Salvador Artesano claims to be the largest shoe factory outlet in Europe and there’s definitely a few to choose from at great prices.

ou can watch shoes being made and can buy the finished product in the shop. There is a huge range of shoes from lots of different Spanish manufacturers and a small play area for kids too.

L’Aljub Elche
Distance: 18.6m (Approx 30mins)

L’Aljub is our nearest shopping centre and offers a good selection of big names including Zara, Primark (which isn’t the jumble sale that you tend to get from Primark stores in the UK), Mango etc. There are a good selection of restaurants as well. A nice place to spend out of the sun for an afternoon.
