Bodega Cerda
Distance: 10m (Approx 20mins)
Website
This is a beautiful fully restored and family run bodega on our doorstep. They run wine tasting sessions daily and you can sit in the beautiful courtyard to have lunch. Buy a couple of bottles of their own vino and browse in their lovely shop for some unusual souvenirs. Booking in advance is advisable for the tour and lunch.
El Mirador
With stunning views over La Romana, El Mirador is one of our favourites. Their speciality is seafood so prepare to meet your lobster before you eat him. They have a wide selection of tapas and paella too. Well worth a visit.
Hermanos Belando Restaurante
Our nearest restaurant. In walking distance. Probably about 20minutes down the mountain then 30minutes back up. Famed for its rabbit and snail paella (they will do it without snails if you’d prefer), people travel all the way from Alicante for this speciality. Paella is the British equivalent to a Sunday Roast for the Spanish so its very difficult to get a table on a Sunday. Well worth a visit though
Victors
Found right next to the new square in La Romana, Victors is a very friendly café open early to late. There’s a great atmosphere in the summer with all the locals sitting outside eating late into the evening. Victor serves honest, simple, traditional Spanish food and is very popular with the locals. Point at and try the tapas. Take your fill, the prices are very cheap too.
There are numerous other Indian, Italian, English, Chinese and even Greek and Lebanese restaurants to name but a few, all within driving distance. Whatever you fancy, let us know and we will give you our recommendations.
